The newest addition to API’s portfolio of scalable radar solutions is the development of a 2D Steerable Active Antenna Array. Designed for rapid deployment into radar systems and ease of installation and serviceability, the 2D array helps reduce the cost of ownership of radar systems.

The development of APIs 2D array extends the Company’s portfolio of phased array transmit/receive module solutions. This flexible product platform is based on a modular, innovative design featuring fully interchangeable and factory calibrated Quad Transmit Receive Modules (QTRMs). API’s AESA radar platform is ideal for systems integrators and prime contractors seeking a high level transmit/receive solution with simplified integration for the development of an active antenna array systems or subsystem.

The lightweight, compact, rectangular array comes with integral cooling, local PSU distribution and conditioning, power combining, antenna aperture, and beam steering command, which results in a fully calibrated antenna. Applications include tactical data links, coastal and harbour security, border control, FOD (foreign object detection) for airport runways, next generation satellite “in orbit” configurable arrays, and SATCOM on the move platforms.

Utilizing a novel “common module” building block approach, API’s QTRMs provide a line replaceable unit solution for an Active Array by leveraging built-in factory calibration. The API solution eliminates the need for the entire platform to be sent back to the factory for full antenna re-calibration. API’s European designed and manufactured modules are presently available in X, S, and C band configurations.
