API Technologies to Introduce Opto-Electronic Media Conversion Solutions at DSEI: Higher data rates with a small footprint

The products will be featured in a live demonstration replicating an on-vehicle optical transceiver system configuration at DSEI 2015 from September 15-18.

API’s new line of COTS-based opto-electronic media converter products offer a UK-made, low-to-high speed data communications solution specifically developed for harsh environments, including military and commercial avionics, subsea communications, and military vehicle platforms. Packaged in an EMI 38999 connector, the converters offer improved security over traditional copper-based electrical cables due to non electromagnetic signature while providing high speed communications in new aircraft and vehicles. The converters also offer an easy-to-install, retrofit solution for engineers looking to improve the reliability of aircraft and vehicle systems while achieving reduced size, weight and power consumption.

Suitable for single or multi-mode optical fibre transmission, API’s high performance media converters are designed to operate within a temperature range of -55°C to +95°C with Built-in-Test (BiT) and status monitoring capabilities. The lightweight and compact media converter modules are ideally suited for integration within tightly confined spaces such as those found in an aircraft or mining system, and are designed, qualified and manufactured in the UK.
