API Technologies Adds Two New Features to the Netgard™ MFD CAC and PIV Enablement Device for Multi-Function Printers

Features Easily Enable Secure Scan-to-Home and Secure Print Release Functionality

ORLANDO, FL — October 12, 2012 — API Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:ATNY) (“API” or the “Company”), a trusted provider of RF/microwave, microelectronics, and security solutions for critical and high-reliability applications, announced today the availability of the next generation Netgard™ MFD for CAC / PIV enablement of legacy printers, copiers, and scanners. The latest version adds Scan-to-Home and Secure Print Release functionality to this popular, cost-effective, access/authentication solution.

“With Scan-to-Home and Secure Print Release features available, government customers now have added flexibility utilizing the Netgard solution bringing legacy printer /copier / scanners into HSPD-12 compliance or add these advanced security features to newer MFP models,” said Henry Gold, Business Area Manager, SSIA International, API Technologies.

There are more than 4000 Netgard MFDs currently deployed at U.S. government agencies around the World. The drop-in, in-line hardware/software solution brings legacy multi-function devices (MFDs) into compliance with the Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD-12) by facilitating multi-factor Common Access Card (CAC) or Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card user authentication with network-based devices.

Secure Print Release
The Secure Print Release function on the Netgard MFD enables any non-CAC compliant device to perform print release using Kerberos/Active Directory authentication allowing for greater control of sensitive data. It is available in a high performance network print server version for large, high-capacity deployments, or in a printer-only version.

The Netgard’s new Scan-to-Home solution gives users a simple way to send a document to their network home directly.  The Netgard MFD device uses the CAC credentials to bind the session using Kerberos authentication to the Windows File Share.
