API Launches Dual Entry PDU for Use with Generator & Mains Power

ORLANDO, FL — June 26, 2012 — API Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:ATNY) (“API” or the “Company”), a trusted provider of RF/microwave, microelectronics, and security solutions for critical and high-reliability applications, launched today a new high-power, dual entry power distribution unit (PDU). This dual input PDU (P/N: 72RA260BVFFN-00) is designed for applications where facility power and generator power co-exist to provide redundant power to IBM blade arrays. The design was derived from a PDU created for distributing power to the Cisco 6500E Catalyst product in customer sites.

”With 200 to 240 Volts of AC power, this PDU is ideal for use with generator and Mains power systems,” said Mr. Tracy Shaffer, Senior Vice President/Business Manager, RF2M US, API Technologies.  Output power is 120 VAC for the two NEMA 5-20R outlets, and 240 VAC for the four IEC C19 outlets. The current is rated at 24 amps maximum per input group, and total load capacity for the PDU is 14.40 KVA, which is ideal for a rack full of blade server applications.

“UL 489 listed circuit breakers are utilized in providing immediate protection in the event of excessive current of system faults. For maximum protection, each individual outlet has its own circuit breaker which can also act as local on / off switch at the rack,” added Shaffer. Suitable applications for this design include, but are not limited to, data center racks, blade server applications, defense ATE equipment, industrial ATE equipment, scientific instrumentation cabinets, and network operating centers.
