API Technologies Debuts Breakthrough Digital Accelerometer with Built-in User-Controlled Analytical Tools

The patent pending XL403D is the first accelerometer of its kind that supports SCPI-like commands, returns data in engineering units, and works with any standard terminal emulator. It will be showcased for the first time this week at Booth #4347 in Hall C at AUSA 2012 in Washington DC.

New High g Digital Accelerometers from API Technologies Measure up to 500 g

ORLANDO, FL — May 22, 2012 — API Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:ATNY) (“API” or the “Company”), a leading provider of RF/microwave, microelectronics, and security solutions for critical and high-reliability applications, announced today its new high g digital accelerometer from its Sensors line of inertial measurement products. Measuring up to 500 g, this accelerometer is ideal for shock detection and sports equipment safety testing.

“These digital accelerometers measure higher g ranges than ever before and are ready to use within minutes of unpacking the box,” said Larry Howanitz, Vice President, EIS & Sensors divisions of API Technologies. Available in ±500 g and ±250 g versions, the unit comes in single axis (#15208A), dual axes (#25208A), and triaxial (#35208A) models.

High g Digital Accelerometer

API digital accelerometers are complete, easy-to-use, user-configurable sensors containing one to three accelerometers, a temperature sensor, signal processor, RS-485 interface and three analog outputs in a small, easy-to-install package.

All channels are sampled simultaneously to avoid data skewing. The digital signal processor takes 16-bit samples, filters,
ranges, and calibration compensates at up to 42,500 samples/sec/channel. Digital data can be streamed out at up to 3 Mbit/sec.

The output range, filter frequency and calibration of each channel, as well as telemetry configuration, can be set by the user via the RS-485 command processor. CRC-8 and CRC-16 error checking is used to ensure command and data integrity.

The built-in temperature sensor can be used by critical applications to correct for any residual temperature effects.
